Biography
Jane Glennie is an award-winning British artist, filmmaker, and typographic designer whose innovative work has received international recognition. Her distinctive films, composed of rapid sequences of still photographs, create a layered visual aesthetic that is both abstract and painterly, immersing viewers in a flood of imagery. Her work has been screened at numerous festivals worldwide, earning accolades such as the Best Video Art award at the International Festival Dona i Cinema in Spain, and recognition at the Women Over 50 Film Festival in the UK. In 2022, Jane collaborated with writer Rosie Garland to produce “Because Goddess Is Never Enough,” a project funded by Arts Council England. This film became the centerpiece of her solo exhibition, “Fear & Yearning (and the sliver in between),” held at the Centre for Research in the Arts, Social Sciences and Humanities (CRASSH) at Cambridge University in 2023. Jane has presented her work at conferences, including previous editions of MIX, the Royal Anthropological Film Conference, and the London Conference in Critical Thought. Her explorations in the intersections of text, image, and film continue to push the boundaries of visual experience.
