Biography
Dr Sarah Gibson Yates is a Senior Lecturer in Film, Media and Writing at the Cambridge School of Creative Industries, Anglia Ruskin University, UK. Her research reflects an interest in multidisciplinary creative practice and the methodological, ontological and epistemological impact of new technologies on writing and creativity. Recent funded work – Creative human-machine collaboration: co-authoring the short drama and its screenplay within a production context of care – addresses the value and creative potential of co-creating with generative AI through screenwriting and fiction filmmaking. Her writing and filmmaking centre on women’s experiences and those of children and young adults, activating her practice as a tool for narrative experimentation, fostering empathy, promoting dialogue, and exploring new perspectives through storytelling.
