Biography
Rachel Genn is a neuroscientist, artist and writer who lectures at Manchester Writing School at Manchester Metropolitan University. She has written two novels – The Cure (2011) and What You Could Have Won (2020) – and is now working on a hybrid collection of essays about artistic reverie as well as fighting and addiction to regret. Her film Battledress, about female fashions and fighting (made in collaboration with with D Ballin at SODA) has been screened at AVIVA Studios in Manchester (Festival of Britain 2024) and the Northern Takeover at SXSW (2025). She has writing in Granta, LARB, New Statesman amongst other places. She lives in Sheffield.
