Alastair Horne

Alastair Horne is Lecturer in Publishing at the University of Stirling, where he specialises in digital and academic publishing. His doctoral dissertation, to be submitted in June 2023, explores how smartphones are changing storytelling, tracing connections between the Japanese cellphone novels of the early 2000s and the chat-fictions, interactive fictions, and locative narratives of the following decades; it includes a creative component in the form of a locative audio drama situated at Brompton Cemetery in London.

Before entering academia, he spent more than a decade working in digital publishing at Cambridge University Press, including three years as Innovations Manager.
