Biography

Kathi Inman Berens, Associate Professor of Book Publishing and Digital Humanities at Portland State University, is co-editor of the Electronic Literature Collection Volume 4. She is co-author of Immersive Media and Books 2020, the first study to examine how readers engage with books in a broad media ecosystem that includes streaming media and videogames. In 2014-15, Berens was the U.S. Fulbright Scholar of Digital Culture to Norway. She has co-exhibited e-literature at the U.S. Library of Congress and designed media arts shows. As a Fellow at the Annenberg Innovation Lab, she did funded research about synchronous video learning a decade before COVID made it urgent. She’s appeared on numerous podcasts and webinars. Her essays have appeared in a wide range of scholarly, trade professional, and avant-garde publications. She bike commutes and does yoga outside.
