Biography

Dr Abigail L M Webb is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the University of Essex. Her primary research explores human face perception, particularly the processing of facial emotional displays, but her recent research explores virtual reality as a medium for disseminating and experiencing the arts, including digital and immersive story-telling (The Mystery of Raddlesham Mumps) and immersive-360° performance viewing (LIVR). Abigail is the lead researcher on a project investigating the cognitive-user experience and social impact value of immersive-360° theatre, including assessments of presence, immersion and self-affirmation in emotive, virtual environments, and the efficacy of virtual reality as a digital strategy enabling traditional theatre to expand audience engagement beyond regular theatregoers.
